Telenor Serbia to Cut 120 Jobs

Telenor Serbia to Cut 120 Jobs

Telenor Serbia has announced that it is to cut 120 jobs due to "forthcoming organizational changes", as well as the recent introduction of a special tax on mobile phone networks.

"The financial crisis has affected businesses all over the world. In Serbia, the economic crisis has been additionally aggravated for Telenor and our customers by the introduction of a 10% Mobile Phone Tax. Already, this combined effect has led to a EUR 220 million reduction in the value of Telenor Serbia."

"In order to be able to continue investing in new and advanced services for our customers, we have had to review our entire cost base. As a consequence, we have decided to reorganise our company and reduce the number of employees", says Kjell-Morten Johnsen, CEO of Telenor Serbia.
