Poila Boishakh the First Day of the Month of Baishakh is the first day of the Bangla Calendar. This is the Bengali New Year and Poila Boishakh celebrated in both Bangladesh and West Bengal and in Bengali communities in Assam and Tripura. Pohela Boishakh connects all ethnic Bengalis irrespective of religious and regional differences. According to the Gregorian calendar, it falls on April 14th or April15th, this year it is April 15th.
