Life of a laptop battery depends on each user based on his usage habits and needs. But that doesn’t mean that the best use of laptop battery is when the laptop is connected to the power cord most of the time. Laptop’s battery life mainly depends on the way you charge and discharge the battery. But if you feel that your battery mileage has gotten short over time, then try re-calibrating your battery. But how can you perfectly re-calibrate your laptop’s battery ?
How to Calibrate Laptop Battery
First of all, fully charge the battery to it’s maximum (100%).Then, let the battery rest for 2 hours or more. */ you can use your laptop normally during this time.
In the Power options (Control Panel), configure the laptop to auto hibernate as the battery level reaches 3% capacity.
Let the laptop battery discharge until it hibernates automatically. */ you can use your laptop normally during this time.
After the laptop shutsdown automatically, leave it alone for 5 or 6 hours.
Plug the battery to power supply and perform a full charge till it reaches 100% capacity.
This method of Calibrating Laptop battery works well with laptops using Ni-MH cells and not Li-Ion batteries because deep discharges will actually decrease the charge capacity and lifespan of Li-Ion cells.
